Biography of the author Chiara Cilli
Young, only twenty years old, Chiara Cilli lives in Pescara since January 24th 1991.
Passionate about graphic design, she has always cultivated a passion for writing an amazing topic.
Her imagination was already enriched over the years through readings of gender, in particular Keri Arthur and J.R. Ward, leading up to the haunting Reign of Penthànweald, where you play the four episodes of the saga that Tabula Fati publishes.
Her talent has led on the paper the character of Morwen, Goddess fascinating beyond mortal expectation, and made it memorable, adding to all the qualities that belong to the girls of her generation, making of her first novel even a glimpse of vices and virtues of modern teenagers.

You are cordially invited to the first presentation of The Queen of the Underworld ♦ The awakening of the Fire, Feb. 4th 2012 at Libernauta bookstore in Pescara, Italy.
"We start from the aesthetics of the manuscript: I was not particularly impressed (but do not care much to cover, I prefer to concentrate on the plot). The image chosen, though not received top marks, is suitable to the story that the author is about to tell. The writer's style is fluid, understandable, only a couple of points I found a little long periods, but who am I to judge them, because one of my biggest weakness is to always put the point too late? Chiara Cilli, also gave birth to new territories, creating different landscapes with her vivid imagination, no doubt, not lack imagination, she has clear ideas about the universe in which she plays the story borned in her mind. The main character that the author presents is different from what we usually encounter in recently published books, in fact, Morwen is the Heir to the throne of the Underworld. The girl is extraordinarily beautiful, terribly cruel, she does not hesitate to kill in brutal way men who hinder her plans, she knows no mercy. One thing that I don't appreciate are her pink eyes, but they taste, and probably in the book are too often repeated the words ''pink diamonds.'' The young girl did not accept the destiny chosen for her because she does not want to become a Goddess, she wants to live in her own way (remember the Gods, 'cause they are figures that play important roles from their thrones). The existence of the girl changes dramatically when enters in the scene Galadir, Prince of the Land of Men, so beautiful. In the course of the novel he will live an intense and passionate love affair with Morwen, a woman who really should not be able to love anyone except his faithful winged steed. The characters intrigued me but I failed to affections, she is undoubtedly fascinating as type of woman, he is absolutely incredible, but he failed to acquire real physical features in my mind. I'd like to know soon, directly by the author, if she has imagined exactly someone in the shoes of the Prince. Given the period, perhaps due to too much stress, I have not been able to totally immerse myself in history, leaving me to carry from the adventure that the main characters live, going against everything and everyone to live their love story. I could not enjoy the ending, caught me totally by surprise, there was really an interesting aspect. The novel is nice, it's nice to read from time to time a few words of our compatriot.
I commend Chiara for the realization of this dream, I wish you much luck in the future.
Are you inspired from this novel made in Italy?"
1) Hello, Chiara, and welcome to our blog. I am very happy to welcome you and doing this little interview. Let's start with the first question. The most obvious: you are young, how and when did you start writing? I think I started in 2007 with the famous fanfictions about cartoons characters, and then I draw up the remake of the four Alien films in the saga. Eventually I realized that writing was my life and I decided to get serious, creating the world of The Queen of the Underworld.
2) How did you get the idea of Penthànweald, where did you find the inspiration to create it? Christopher Paolini and his Eragon transmitted me the "disease" of fantasy genre, and from there I decided to create a world in which my characters could live, but it was a fantasy world dominated by evil, and so out of the ordinary.
3) Morwen is a beautiful woman, passionate as lethal. A different character than we are used to read because she is cruel and brutal. What did you inspire to create a so different character? I have always been totally fascinated by the "dark side" and I always wondered why the good should triumph over evil, although it was considerably higher. So, I created Morwen that with the passage of time has proved to be exactly what I wanted: the embodiment of absolute perfection of an incontestable leader. How says my favorite author, Keri Arthur, in the fourth book in the series Riley Jenson: "Because is in the darkness that dwells in power." I could not agree more!
4) In the next volumes we will finally know the mysterious Andrer? Ah, the mysterious Andrer! Unfortunately, the beautiful Protégé of the Goddess of the Night, will remain in the shadows until the third chapter of the series.
5) All writers are fond of their characters, but how is your relationship with yours? Both with Morwen and Galadir, and with the others? Is there a character you're most fond of? I am eternally devoted to Morwen and slave of Galadir! My relationship with this couple is visceral: what they want, I write. I think that Morwen and Galadir are not my characters and I like to think they chose me to tell their painful and intense passion. The others are not less importance, the contrary: without them nothing would have happened to all that will happen. Obviously I'm very possessive of Morwen, but while editing I realized to be so much more possessive of Prince Galadir. In short, if I write that he smiles ... I smile too.
6) If you were to describe The awakening of the Fire to who had not read yet, how would you describe it? A fantasy out of the ordinary, where evil reigns and where the protagonist is not the usual pure-hearted and fearless heroine, but an evil creature and terribly seductive, tempting a...
"The Awakening of the Fire is the first of four books that constitute the The Queen of the Underworld Series of the debutante Chiara Cilli. Being the first book, we see an introduction to the world of the Maiden of Flames, named Morwen, and to the start of her mission to recover the precious Crystals. There are many questions in the book and they go on, and while the story take shape others will sprout. Some of these will have answers, others will have to wait for the continuation of the series. But the mystery of some characters, such as Maithon and the young Andrer, will continue to whet during reading. The main character is Morwen, the aspiring Goddess, Queen of the Underworld. Beautiful and brutal, Morwen embodies several conflicting aspects of character. She can be cruel and cynical, but with the arrival of Galadir she softens buying humor and smile. The barbaric actions in which the protagonist will be involved there will be still, and will be felt, but obviously the belonging to the Underworld affects her way to be. So I met a different character than we are used usually. Often we read about good and naive female protagonists. Morwen is quite different and I was intrigued and pleasantly surprised. The attraction and relationship with Prince Galadir was born early enough, and it's not honeyed, which makes it my eyes rather mature. Of course, they forced to live during the trip and this takes them to approach quickly and steals the scene to the mission. When they divide, the mission becomes even more interesting and fantasy elements in the novel are more evident. The mystery deepens and the search of the Crystals will be even more eventful and enjoyable. The fantastic creatures will be present, original like the Nazre, but it is the very nature of Morwen that struck me and surprised. I won't reveal what she eats for not to spoil the surprise, but going back to what I mentioned before, she is the main character who is different from the stereotype that we used reading. I also loved Hurrichein, the Black Winged Horse, but not a simple horse. I must say that in the book there are so many mysteries and sudden revelations that will grow and enrich the reader's curiosity. The style is fluid and fluent and omniscient narration is clear and understandable as well as perfect to tell the story from the perspective of each character making their feelings clear. A pleasant read, not without flaws, but extremely enjoyable and enriched with mysteries to solve. The first step towards the heart of an all-Italian saga that began with The Queen of the Underworld, a book and interesting adventure suitable for all lovers of fantasy with a newborn story of love and a mission to accomplish."
- Here we are today with Chiara Cilli, author of The Queen of the Underworld Series. First, would you like to tell us about your series? Is there anything you'd like to add to the official description? It's the story of Morwen, the Heir to the throne of the Underworld, of her war with the Gods of Penthànweald, who want her dead because she is destined to become the absolute ruler, and of her intense and tragic love story with the Prince Galadir. It's an unusual fantasy, everything revolves around this evil and merciless creature and her way of seducing even with a glance. The protagonist is not the usual fearless and pure-hearted heroine, but is cruel and fights for herself, not to save the people of Penthànweald. Even when it may not seem like, she is acting only for herself and for Galadir, of course. So, one could say that the darkness of evil prevail in this series.
- How did the idea for the book? From what you've been inspired?
I've always been fascinated by the "dark side" of the characters in books and movies, and I thought: "Why do Evil must always die and Good must always triumph?" So was born Morwen, the embodiment of all the nuances of the evil that I always loved.
- Are there writers who inspired you? For style, modus operandi, settings etc... The first fantasy novel I read was Eragon, and from there I went into the world of fantasy. Then I discovered Licia Troisi and I started to write in her style for the first three books, then I tacked on urban fantasy readings for adults at the last book of the series and I discovered the superb writing of Keri Arthur. I can not draw inspiration from anything, except to my muses, for the simple fact that no one does evil triumph. It's all there the fun!
- Going back to series, did you base your characters on someone you really know? If yes, in wich ways? Yes, in every way. For my books I always choose various actors who are capable of arousing in me emotions that I need for the story. Those who have accompanied me for the entire series are two people who totally reflect every mottle of the characters they play in my mind.
- Very often characters reflect in part the author himself, how much of yourself is in your characters? All ask me this question but the answer is always the same: nothing. I would not dream of contaminating the characters with something of me and making them weak and vulnerable - two words taboo for the Queen of the Underworld!
- Let us analyze in more detail the protagonists. We read that the protagonist, Morwen, owes her name to the Elvish language, and means Black Maiden. How did you get the idea for this name? Was it a natural process due to her lo...
1) Hello, Chiara, and thank you to be part of my initiative. When will be the release date of your romance? The official release date is January 6, 2012.
2) The idea is very original and particular. How did it born? What did inspired you? I've always been attracted to the dark side of the characters in a book or a movie, and I always wondered why the good should always triumph over evil. Thus were born the merciless and irresistible Morwen and the cruel Penthànweald - the great land where the story takes place, - where the seductive evil reigns supreme.
3) Between all the characters designed by you, who is your favourite? Who was the most difficult to describe? My absolute devotion goes to the female protagonist , Morwen, while my heart is slave of the male one, Prince Galadir. Without doubt the most difficult to describe was Morwen, because of her turbulent past, that will remain hidden until the last book of the series, and because of her sudden change of expression, especially in this first novel, where the presence of Prince puts to strain on her self-control.
4) Talk to me about the Maiden of the Flames. Morwen is perfect in all respects. She's made to seduce and kill with the eyes. Every her gesture transmits lethal passion to everyone who see her. She does not leave anything to chance, and her slow and sinuous movements exude not only sensuality unparalleled, but also a certain death sentence. She's absurdly perfect, I never tire to say that!
5) Inside the romance, there will be a romantic/passionate love story? It's a love story, actually. It's not like the classic fantasy centered on the war. I wanted to play all on the intense, passionate, fiery and almost destructive bond between the Heir of the throne of the Underworld and Prince Galadir.
6) Tell me about the Kingdom of Penthànweald. What are its particularity and those of its residents? Penthànweald is the great land where the saga takes place, and it's formed from the Land of Men, where Prince Galadir lives; the Living Desert, where horrible creatures defend the parallel dimension, in which the capital is habited by jovial and almost brazen people; the Dark Land, where a perennial sky covered with black clouds and shocked by lightning accompanies the grim life of blonde haired and dark irises citizens; the Kingdom of the Winged Horses, where a rigid military town is located between white clouds and where silver haired and bordeaux eyed people live in the silence dictated by King Raich; the Currents of Fate, the Kingdom of the Goddess Vueno, where a dense network of streams and stone bridges hovers in the fog and where countless souls float aimlessly in the grey water.
Five Goddesses, absurd and frighteningly beautiful and powerful, along with God Mas and God Dahan exercise their dominion over the five Lands of Penthànweald, but the litigation is such that it is impossible to share time and intent each other. This is why the Underworld create a fantastic creature, the Maiden of the Flames, that only when she will have full knowledge of her strength, she will can elect to become the absolute ruler. Until that, she will be known as the Heir, equally feared and opposed, hunted by every means in order to kill her before she makes her choice ... Morwen appears at Thera upon request of King Ashiwar. The Goddess Lash is wreaking ruckus in the Land of Men, and the young Heir has to begin to pay off her debt of gratitude to the King, that welcomed the woman in spite of her danger. But the exchange of favors is not exactly what the old King was expected...
